Antique Victorian mourning earrings featuring a hand carved drops. The drops feature roses for love and forget-me-not representing remembrance. The earrings are set 9ct gold.
Jet is fossilised wood from an area in England called Whitby. This material became popular after the death of Prince Albert in 1861 and was worn by Queen Victoria whilst in morning. Black coloured jewellery set in vulcanite, bog oak or pressed horn were also popular materials.
